Founded in 1960, Episcopal Charities and Community Services (ECCS) helps people in the Diocese of Chicago experience God’s transforming grace by supporting the efforts of congregations and community partners with unrestricted grants and intellectual capital. Each year, those who join in our community of faith, bring a message of hope to more than 50,000 women, men, children and families across northern Illinois.

Episcopal Charities and Community Services is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization registered in Illinois and governed by an independent board of trustees. Its ministry is entirely funded by charitable donations received from individuals, congregations, businesses, and foundations. Because income from invested funds is used to pay for modest administrative costs, 100% of every dollar contributed to ECCS is applied directly to programs and agency support.

  • Serving individuals and families for 50 years, ECCS is the most comprehensive Episcopalian social service network in the region
  • 100 percent of all donations go to help make a difference in the lives of individuals and families across northern Illinois
  • In the last 10 years alone, ECCS has distributed more than $12 million in grants to partner agencies, congregations and community development efforts
  • This year, ECCS will grant more $743,000 to support the work of its partner agencies
  • ECCS helps 60,000 women, men, children and families in Northern Illinois each year
  • ECCS is an independent 501(c)3, with a separate board of directors
